Beautiful Pitbull for Adoption

12/4/2006 Update on PetraPetra still needs a home! Petra is now attending basic obedience class through a Dallas area 4-H club. She's doing well in her training exercises and her handler really enjoys working with her. She has had some confrontational issues with other dogs in the class. And, although she has gotten along with other dogs in the past, I can no longer say that she is neutral in her attitude towards other dogs. Consequently, she'll need to be your "one and only" if you want to adopt Petra. If you'd like a happy, confident, affectionate dog who is working on obedience skills, Petra may be the perfect dog for you. Read her story below and then contact me for an adoption application if you are interested. Gale Henrard 479-633-2067 8/26/2006 Petra Speaks!Whew! That was a close call. The shelter where I was staying had to take in a bunch of dogs from Animal Control and all of a sudden they didn’t have room for me. I guess a lot of dogs get PTS (put to sleep) when something like that happens. But, I was lucky. A foster family took me in--just in the nick of time! But I still need a forever home! So, please read on.
Here I am meeting my new foster mom. Her name is Susie. She knows a lot about dogs and she thinks I am very smart and that I will be a snap to train. I’m basically already house trained and the lady who brought me to Susie says I am an angel when it comes to riding in the car.
The picture below is the kennel where I’m staying now. It’s on a ranch just outside of Dallas, TX. That black blob behind me is a 300 lb. pig! I wonder who do they think is going to adopt her?
The people here are very nice. But, I need to be part of a family—to belong to someone and have them belong to me. I want to have house privileges so that I can be near my humans as much as possible. Please don’t believe some of the hype you may have heard about my breed. I have no interest in fighting other dogs. And, I absolutely love people.
You can find out more about me by reading the beginning of my story below. And, if you think you’d like to adopt me, call my guardian, Gale at 479-633-2067. Or you can send her an email.
I'll be waiting . . .

By the way, I still have some pit bull buddies back at the Bella Vista Animal Shelter who need homes too. If you live within driving distance of northwest Arkansas, please take a look at this pitbull for adoption page.
Meet Petra

Note: As of 8/25/2006 Petra lives in Texas. See contact info above.
Hi there! My name is Petra. I currently live at the Bella Vista Animal Shelter in Bella Vista, Arkansas. I was brought in as a stray by a nice police officer in June of 2006.
My guardians here at the shelter say that I look like I’m a purebred Amstaff and that I am so sweet they just don’t understand why I haven’t been adopted.
I overheard someone say something about my breed and something called a "bad rap". I don’t know what that means. I just know that I am a Good Girl! And, if you are a nice person who can provide a good home I can be your good girl!!!
I’m young and healthy (about 2-3 yrs old) so I can keep up with you if you’re active.
I love people and I love to give kisses! So, if you want to snuggle in front of the TV, that’s fine too.
I’m fine around other dogs—just no cats, please.
Oh, and if you wouldn’t mind, I just can’t seem to get over the idea that another dog might try to steal my food. So if you could let me have my meals alone—it would be a real relief.
I have been waiting for a new home since June 12, 2006. To find out more about me and what you need to do to adopt me call the Bella Vista Animal Shelter at 479-855-6020. Or come by for a visit Monday – Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm at 32 Bella Vista Way in Bella Vista, AR.
Note: As of 8/25/2006 Petra has moved to a foster home in Texas. Contact Gale 479-633-2067 for more information.
