Family Friendly

(Sydney, Australia)

Ive had pitbulls my entire life.As a family man u reap what you sow. My current pitbull has been in my family for 5 years now .She has grown up with all my children. They ride her like a horse.

Loyal and fun like any animal you have to have supervision. Yeah they're game. She wants to play tug of war all day and my kids get bored before she gets tired when they ride her. Clumsy sometimes but cause they like to impress.

So sad that in Australia she will be the last APBT i will ever own. The stigma that attracts these animals is caused by there blind loyalty to their owners. Thanks to these elements in society they have destroyed the name of what is a remarkable dog.

Once you have had one of these dogs you can't own another breed. My wife knows this will be our last dog luckily they average 12 years so my family can enjoy this truly remarkable breed for a few more years.

The Last Pit Bull
by: Gale

Hi Tony: Thanks for sharing. I'm curious why you've decided that you won't have another dog. Is it becoming illegal to own a pittie in Australia or are you just tired of all the baggage that comes with owning a breed of dog that others don't understand?

I relate
by: Anonymous

I can deeply relate to your story. They are also banned where I live (Ontario, Canada) and I never owned a better breed of dog in my life nor have I even met a better dog before. My little man was born perfect, it was like he came alreadly trained, socialized and everything when he was born.

THE PIT BULLS ARE THE BEST!!!!
by: Anonymous

IT'S RIDICULOUS THAT THESE FABULOUS DOGS GET SUCH A BAD RAP. THESE DOGS ARE LOVING AND LOYAL AND IT'S ONLY THE EVIL HUMAN TOUCH THAT CAN ALTER THEIR LOVING, LOYAL, DEDICATED DISPOSITION. ANYONE, ANYWHERE, SHOULD HAVE THE EXPERIENCE THE LOVE ONE OF THESE DOGS.!. YOU WILL NEVER GO WITHOUT A "PIT BULL" LOVER EVER AGAIN. I LOVE MINE AND WILL CONTINUE TO ADOPT A SHELTER "PIT BULL" OVER AND OVER AGAIN.!!<3
DON'T DISCRIMINATE UNTIL YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED THE LOVE FROM A "PIT BULL". AGAIN, THE LOVE, THE LOYALTY AND THE DEDICATION YOU RECEIVE FROM THESE WONDERFUL DOGS!<3
THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THESE DOGS! IT'S UNJUST AND UNFAIR! IT'S THE EVIL HUMAN TOUCH THAT DAMAGES THEIR REPUTATION!

I understand

I also would never have another breed. My Peanut is 4 years old and I am 63. Thus, if God allows, when he leaves us, I will be to old to have another dog and ALSO....he is not allowed to come to my daughter's house in Knoxville. Because he can be so playful with my grandchildren (14 and 13) and my daughter has a large husky mix that is MEAN . She is just afraid HER dog will urinate in house smelling my dog's scent. Gee....Peanut does not male posture to urinate....thus he will not mess their house. Shame not to see my family BUT cannot stand thought of kenneling Peanut. One and last time we did....he cried the entire time, would not eat and messed his bed. I said NEVER AGAIN ! Peanut has been a loner...only around two older folks. He is a service dog for me, has a service vest that has MOBILITY DOG on it. I take him some when I go out (which is not often because of my physical disorder) and when I do..EVERYONE LOVES HIM. He gives kisses, loves the children. He is timid at first but he gradually warms up. So the person that posted they would never have another pittie...may be because of situation like mine. PIT BULLS ARE THE BEST BREED THAT ONE CAN SHARE THEIR LIFE WITH. I do not say "own" because we truly own nothing on this earth, only what we will have in our eternal home. And Peanut WILL be there with me, :-)

My story is so close to everyone's
by: Anonymous

No ban in our county area and I live in the country where I found not one but two dumped dogs, both Pits, male first, then female a few months later because they have strict rules in the city near me so people just take them out and dump them. Those aren't loving parents to these animals, but these two (both fixed now) are best buddies and we love them. I don't list them on my insurance. I was told some insurance companies won't even cover you if you own them, even though we have a fenced acreage and locked gate. We can't move anywhere else for other reasons, but what would I do with my babies if I did. So we stay where we are and hope if we ever have to move, we go out in the country again where your dogs are your business and it's up to you to keep them safe and sound.
