My Izzy - World's Perfect Dog

I laugh as I type the title. It's a cute joke between Izzy and myself. I have 4 babies, Izzy and Tiger Lilly are Pits, LouLou is an American Bulldog and Lady is a Puggle. Every time we go out and three of them are always running wild, I look down at my side and there is my Izzy. I tell her, you are the World's Perfect Dog and if they would behave like you then I would tell them the same.

Izzy came into my life in January 2010. She was not quite a year old. Her owner, a sweet young girl who had adopted Izzy from a pet drive at a pet store while in college, was asked to find her another home because her parents were not comfortable with Izzy. Just because she was Pit.

I had lived in the country my entire life and had so many dogs but I had not personally owned a Pit. My son calls one night and asks if we would baby sit Izzy until they found her a good home. I researched Pit on the internet to acquaint myself with the breed. I was amazed at all the positive testimonies and photos I found, so we agreed to keep her for awhile.

My son brings her in one night and this beautiful creature slowly walked in behind him and would not leave his side. She was so frightened. She put her paw on my son's knee and I asked him what she wanted. She wants up in my lap, Mom. I raised my eyebrows because Izzy was a good 50 lbs. and I did not see her as a lap dog. She very gently crawled up in his lap and fell asleep. Within an hour I told Josh, there's no need to find her a home, she is home.

Izzy is positively perfect. She adapted without any problems to Lady and
us. When LouLou and Tiger Lilly came into our family, again, Izzy acted as if they had always been there.

No matter what happens during my day I look forward to seeing my Izzy's face. She can make my heart almost burst with love when she is happy to see me. She often crawls up in my lap, always slow and easy and only wants me to pet her. She has to be touching me when she sleeps and that face in the morning always brings a smile to my face.

She loves to ride in the car with me and truthfully enjoys any activity as long as she is with me. I call her my gift from God because at the time she entered my life my youngest son was getting his driver's license and I was having serious problems letting go. With Izzy, the process was so much easier.

When I have treats for them, the three "wild children" almost can't sit still with anticipation but not My Izzy. She is always patiently waiting, watching me, and I give her a wink. She has no doubt that Mama will take care her.

I know how Pits have such bad reputations but truth is any dog can bite or just "snap" sometimes, especially when not handled and treated properly. My Izzy has completely changed my heart and mind and I have told my husband from now on I only want Pit Bulls.

My Izzy and Tiger Lilly are so intelligent and quick learners but more than that they are loving and wonderful entertainers. We constantly have children of all ages in and out of our home and I am always careful when I first introduce my babies to anyone. It never fails, My Izzy quickly becomes everyone's favorite.

I always smile because she and I both know, she may be the favorite but with Mom she is the World's Perfect Dog.

Good girl Izzy
by: Nancy

I got tears in my eyes while reading your story. We also adopted a wonderful pit after fostering him for 6 months. I've had dogs all my life and I've never seen a breed that is more in tune or connected to human emotions. My dog Mac always has to be touching me too-it is so endearing. Fighting these dogs is more than a crime, it's a sin.

BUT THEY ARE THE BEST DOGS IN THE WORLD I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE LOVE THEY GIVE & THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR THEM WE HAVE HAD AT LEASTE 20 DOGS & JUST 2 PIT'S I WOULD HAVE 10 IF IT WAS POSSABLE THEY ARE THE MOST LOVING DOGS AS LONG AS THEY ARE TREATED RITE & TRAINED. MY DOG JUST LOVES BEING OUT SIDE ON THE DECK HE SITS IN THE SUN WITH HIS TOYS & IS JUST AS HAPPY AS CAN BE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SPECIAL DOGS!!!
