Pit bull toenail color

We think we found our lost pit bull, but the pit bull we think is ours looks like our lost pet except that his toenails (black and white) do not match our pit bulls toenails from pictures taken of him several years ago. Do their nails change color? All the other markings look the same. Help!

Gale's Reply:

I actually didn't know the answer to this either. So, I did a little research. And, as it turns out the answer is yes. Just as skin and hair pigment can change color over time--like when an older dog starts getting gray hair--so too can toenails change color. It's apparently not uncommon. I hope this helps.
