Raw Feeding

I always try to use my own common sense when confronted with new ideas, like BARF feeding. Thing is, all of our dogs evolved from wolves. What did wolves eat? Not kibble, made up of 65-85% grain. Dogs don´t do well with grain.

For 20 years now, more and more dogs are being diagnosed with "thyroid" problems, resulting directly from grain in commercial dog food. But this dog/patient will need vet care and thyroid meds for the rest of its life.

You write about "high protein content" worrying you with raw feeding. YOU decide the proportions of protein in your raw food meals. There are many recipes and charts on the internet: tested and proven depending upon the animals age and activity level.

Since I feed raw, my dogs don´t need "vet dental cleanings under anesthesia", have no thyroid problems and basically see the vet at the end of their lives to be put to sleep, if they don´t die painlessly in old age.

It´s all about responsibility and being a bit courageous to think outside the box, get info and then try it out in an aware manner. Good luck!

PS: the same nutrition that harms dogs is killing us, the sweets, carbs and grains but "science" gave us the food pyramid....Food is a huge industry and trade interests are often insidious. Be alert and aware and remember that we´re all part of nature.
