Raw Meaty Bones

Raw Meaty Bones

Here's how I supplement with raw foods.

I have been a dog owner for a loooooong time which will get me a Dr. Pepper if I have a $1 bill so no biggie there but in all those years of being owned by dogs it has given me a lot of insight and experience with dogs, health issues and the like.

I don't feed my dogs, I own German Shepherds, raw all the time but I do give them "raw supplements" weekly at least once or twice a week and I have to admit that I have seen an improvement in their coats and breath since doing this with them - been about 7 months now.

I buy packages of backbones, ribs etc at the grocery store and try to choose the ones that have as much extra meat on them as possible. That's what I give them as an additional daily treat at least once a week and as an additional part of their meals once or twice a week.

I buy beef or pork - never fowl - for my girls and they just love it. They don't usually finish off the entire bone but they are completely clean as far as the meat goes - in and out - of the bone, plus it helps them clean their teeth and is good exercise for their jaws.

So... if you have the means, try this with your dogs every once in a while and your dog will thank you for it. Just make sure you wash your hands carefully afterward.

Supplements for Small Dogs
by: Amy

I have a miniature dachshund. I supplement a small piece of raw beef with her dry food every evening. Guess which part of dinner she's more excited about! One day a week, I skip the raw meat and just give her dog food. I call it her "fasting day." She's very sad on that day, looking for something that doesn't come. Before I started doing this, she had problems with her anal glands, but we've been fine for a couple of years now with the raw supplements.
