Tank, he's a travelin' man

by Heather
(Hampstead, MD)

Tank, AKA: Think Tank, Tank-o-potamus, and Tankie Doodle is one of the most amazing animals I have ever met! He came into my life via a horrific tragedy with a happy ending.

He came all the way up from my sister's in FL to MD. I think it took 17 hours with my Dad driving. HE had a rough beginning and was rescued by my sister, a tremendous animal lover. For years he was her everything, she had a terrible accident and he came to live with my mom and dad.

Tank quickly shifted gears and filled my dad's heart which had been empty since the loss of his dog 6 years before. They were best buddies. The only problem...I had 3 kids and was leary. I was told he didn't do well with young kids. But after some time and really focusing on his behavior, I realized he was trying to protect each of mine, albeit sometimes a little rudely but always with good intention!

My father passed suddenly and now he comes to my house, I share him with my mom. He has accepted my shih-tzu and my lab, not to mention all the kids. He tries everyday to be the best he can be. I wish people could try to do as much right as he does.
